After the death of her father, Eva's mother marries shady businessman and father of two daughters, Michael Bader. Together with Eva she moves into his country house in the middle of nowhere. After years of living together Eva develops a strong hatred towards her stepfather and his daughters. Also, her relationship with her mother worsens with each passing year, becoming more and more unbearable. Eva only visits her mother once and a while, and usually, only when she needs money.
During one of her visits, Eva overhears a phone call between her stepfather and a Business associate. On Ascension Day, a "hot" business deal is to be transacted at the house while Eva’s mother is out with Michael’s two daughters.
Together with Hanno and his buddy Dominik, Eva plans to attack her stepfather. The plan is simple, attack Michael - leave everyone else unharmed. Everything goes according to plan until one mistake sets off a chain reaction, resulting in the murder of five other people.
Only Eva's stepfather survives the massacre, because of Dominik’s failure to carry out Eva's order to shoot him - a fatal mistake.
The trio goes into hiding in Matera. Here Eva and Hanno lure Dominik into the valley of death. In a scene of unparalleled harshness, Eva kills the one she believes is at fault for their faces being on every international wanted poster.
Eva and Hanno escape to safety, but Hanno should have known better than to trust a former jailbird. The trap that Dominik has lured them into is far worse than anything they could expect to receive in the hands of the authorities.
In the final moments of the film, Michael catches up with Eva and Hanno, and exacts his revenge. They are each nailed to a cross on the very hill where Jesus Christ was once crucified, and are left there to die.

The young American woman Catherine Mulligan marries and follow her husband to Iran where she converts voluntary to Islam. After being raped in her own home by a neighbor, she is false accused of adultery and therefore sentenced to death by stoning. An Iranian writer named Sarah Azimi share a cell with her during her imprisonment and after her release from prison she tries to save Catherine by telling her story to the world.
